Dr. Robert Caruso – Medical Director & Founding Partner
Dr. Caruso completed his General and Urologic Surgery training at New York University. He then completed a Clinical Fellowship in Robotic and Laparoscopic Urologic Surgery in San Antonio, Texas. A native of northern New Jersey, Dr. Caruso pursued his premedical studies at Montclair State College where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He then earned his M.D. from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School in Newark where he graduated with honors (Alpha Omega Alpha) and won several awards at graduation. Dr. Caruso has had a long held vision for a physician-led holistic and comprehensive solution to wellness. He is elated to have helped assemble an experienced team with the right caring attitude that brings to fruition a long needed solution to health and wellness.
Tim Aumueller – Vice President of Operations & Founding Partner
Tim earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from Messiah College where he was a student athlete on the lacrosse team. He subsequently earned a Master in Business Administration Degree in Finance from Seton Hall University. Tim has extensive experience working with major healthcare systems in the initiation and management of hospital-based fitness and wellness centers. The fitness centers Tim has worked to develop have assisted more than 30,000 patients through a structured and motivating wellness program.
Clark Lagemann – Vice President of Business Development & Founding Partner
Clark has achieved a great deal of success in marketing and sales roles while working for major pharmaceutical and medical device companies. During this time he was exposed to a tremendous amount of the inefficiencies in our current medical system. This intimate knowledge inspired Clark to make a difference so he left his corporate job to become an entrepreneur. As a former Rotarian, Clark is passionate about giving back to underserved communities and has sat on the Public Awareness Committee of the Manhattan Interagency Council on Aging. Currently he serves on the International Committee at the Westfield YMCA, as an organizer of Startup Weekend, as a Lean Startup mentor, and as a Rutgers University Business School alumni mentor. Clark also founded Scarlet Startups, a nonprofit startup community to inspire the next generation of New Jersey entrepreneurs.
Mike Mihalic – Founding Partner
Mike is New Jersey native and a graduate of Rutgers University where he studied biology and economics. He is a C.H.E.K. Institute Certified Holistic Lifestyle Coach and is passionate about promoting wellness. He has held numerous positions within the healthcare industry and has experience working directly with patients, doctors, hospitals, and health systems in launching disruptive medical technologies. Through this diverse experience Mike has recognized the need to reduce healthcare costs through an entirely new model of proactive wellness and preventive medicine.
Merle Taylor – Regional Manager
Merle has been a wellness leader for 20 years, working with some of the top healthcare systems in the state of NJ and also with Fortune 500 companies. He has a servant’s heart to lead and believes that wellness is a critical component of everyone’s life. Merle has led many different wellness accounts and facilities over his tenure in the corporate and commercial wellness industry. He is a national speaker on strategic wellness planning. Merle is guided by a Zen proverb that asks “Since you were born, what has your body done for you? Since you were born, what have you done for your body?”
Dr. Glenn Gero – Lead Nutrition Specialist
Dr. Glenn Gero is a licensed and board-certified doctor of naturopathic medicine with a doctor of science in nutrition. He has also earned three masters’ degrees including those in nutrition and botanical medicine. Dr. Gero holds over 20 certifications, including those in medical exercise, life coaching, cancer exercise and restorative medicine. He served as a regional vice-president of the American Heart Association, was a publishing executive for the American Journal of Cardiology, the American Journal of Surgery and the Annals of Internal Medicine. He is a professional member of the American Association of Anti-aging Medicine and the American Holistic Health Association. He also has completed post-graduate training at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School where he serves as a life member of the post-graduate association.
Laura O’Reilly, R.N., B.A. – Medical Advisory Board
Laura, is a health communications professional, program visionary and educator whose background includes skilled clinical nursing, fitness center management, health education and exercise program development, personal training and group exercise instruction, lectures, and training seminars. She is a published columnist and author, and a producer of health and wellness videos. Health advocacy work includes promoting healthy aging with fitness, nutrition and stress management, promoting preventive care and educating individuals on chronic illness, medication, and treatment to foster self-efficacy and support healthy lifestyle change across the life span. As the AVP of Health and Wellness for Easter Seals NJ she leads the Inclusive Health Coalition in New Jersey for the National Center for Health, Physical Activity and Disability, and created the first Institute for Credentialing Excellence (I.C.E.) accredited Inclusive Exercise Instructor Training program in the U.S. Public health service includes volunteering on the Mount Arlington NJ Mayor’s Wellness Committee and Board of Health, and as the Vice President for Communications for New Jersey Local Boards of Health Association. Laura uses her fitness and wellness expertise to inform and motivate local boards of health to make community health and wellness programs a priority.
Dr. David Brock – Exercise Physiologist
Dr. Brock is currently the Director of the Physical Activity and Wellness Research Center and an associate professor with tenure in the Department of Exercise and Movement Sciences at the University of Vermont. He has a B.S. in human nutrition, M.S. in exercise science, and a Ph.D. in exercise physiology with a concentration in obesity and public health from the University of Virginia. In addition, he completed a two-year National Institutes of Health postdoctoral fellowship in the areas of obesity, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes. He trained with some of the most influential researchers in the world and include the past president of the American Diabetes Association, the past-president of the American Heart Association, and the past-president of the Obesity Society. Dr. Brock has internationally recognized expertise on the impact of exercise and dietary strategies to prevent and treat the most prevalent chronic pathologies in the U.S., such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and the metabolic syndrome. He has > 70 peer-reviewed publications and presentations and received private, state, and federal funding for his research. He has published in journals such as the International Journal of Obesity, Obesity, Public Library of Science, Diabetes Care, Journal of Physical Activity and Health, Medical Decision Making, Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism, and the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, etc. In addition, Dr. Brock has presented his work around the world at national and international forums such as Experimental Biology, The Obesity Society, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, American Public Health Association, American College of Preventive Medicine, International Society of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, and the World Congress on Obesity. He currently serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Obesity.
Amy Hull – Stress Management Specialist
Amy, cofounder of Maripossa Wellness, spent over 20 years in the advertising industry and discovered a yoga practice to keep her grounded and centered in the midst of the demanding workplace. However, when Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 her life and focus changed. She began her search for a place that offered something to take her daily life into a place of health and wellbeing and discovered Donna Karan’s Urban Zen Integrative Therapy Program. Amy attended the UZIT program and is a certified trained Integrative therapist, a certified RYT-500 Yoga teacher, Reiki level II trained practitioner. She has worked directly with cancer patients at The Farber Center for Radiation Oncology using the combined integrative techniques to bring relief to common symptoms, teaches resilience workshops and works privately with individuals. At Maripossa Wellness and MedPro Wellness, Amy continues to build the business of wellness by simplifying Wellness programs in hospitals and organizations and teaching achievable techniques for a daily practice that can have a lasting effect.
Ross Schiau – Senior Wellness Coach
Ross is an ACE Certified Health Coach with a strong background in Fitness and Wellness. He has worked extensively with hospital affiliated facilities and diverse populations, including senior and special populations, requiring exercise based programs for weight loss, strength development, corrective exercise, and specialized exercise therapy with Parkinson’s and Cancer patients.Ross is a Certified Health Coach with American Council for Exercise (ACE) for Fitness, Nutrition and Behavior Change, is a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and has advanced certifications as Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), Parkinson’s Delay the Disease and Cancer Exercise Specialist (CES). As a Corrective Exercise Specialist, Ross works with everyday and sports injuries as well as motor and postural impairments. He works one on one with several Parkinson’s patients, speaks to support groups about the merits of exercise for PD and has several NJ based PD exercise groups based on the Delay the Disease program. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the APDA NJ-chapter. As an ACE-certified Health Coach, Ross works with numerous individuals to help them formulate attainable, executable programs to reach their goals, through behavior modification, fitness and nutrition. He believes that the path to wellness has to include education, assessment and effective programming, while helping clients build self-efficacy and self reliance.
Karina Muller – Stress Management Specialist
Karina, co-founder of Maripossa Wellness, has over 15 years experience within the Sports Industry and Health and Wellness Industry. Having personally experienced traumatic and stressful orthopedic surgeries over the course of two years, Karina was able to heal her body and mind by her own practices. Karina truly learned the value of these tools in her recuperation and her focus was redirected to teach others these powerful techniques. Throughout the last few years Karina has received extensive teachings and trainings, she is a certified RYT-500 Urban Zen Integrative Therapist, a certified Vinyasa Yoga teacher, certified in Body Tuning (alternative physical therapy techniques) a Reiki level II practitioner and a Stress Management provider for the Dr. Ornish Reversal of Heart Disease program. Karina has utilized all of these techniques working with adult patients as well as children, at Beth Israel Hospital, St Damien’s hospital in Haiti and Dr.Tazt’s physical therapy office in Manhattan. Through Maripossa Wellness and MedPro Wellness Karina teaches Stress Reduction classes to the employees of companies, hospitals and organizations. Her goal is not only to make these tools accessible to everyone, but for people to truly incorporate them into their everyday lives.
Faith Wilde – R.N.
After many years of working at “regular” jobs, Faith decided to satisfy her passion as a caregiver, nurturer and advocate and enrolled in college to obtain her nursing degree at 48 years old. She currently cares for children and adults with developmental disabilities at Matheny Medical and Educational Center in Peapack, NJ.
As a diabetic and fibromyalgia sufferer, Faith has finally found the courage and strength to make the changes necessary to live a healthful life. She is currently a work in progress. When not encouraging people to meet their health and wellness goals, Faith can usually be found in the yard playing with her 2 rescue Beagles.
